Update to The Code of Practice for Commercial Property Relationships during the pandemic

In a further move to protect business owners affected by the pandemic, Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick announced yesterday (9 December 2020) that the moratorium on the use of CRAR (commercial rent arrears recovery) and forfeiture of lease is to be extended to the end of March 2021. He repeated that the Government’s stance is that where businesses can pay their rent, they should do so and commented that most commercial landlords have been flexible with their tenants in terms of reaching an agreement.
