I joined DSL in 2007 straight from, what was then called, the College of Law (now known as the University of Law).
From recollection, I sat my final exam looking forward to my last long summer off before embarking in the working world.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), I was called in to an interview at DSL two days later and started my legal career as a Legal Assistant on the Monday.
The following May, I started my training contract, qualifying in May 2010.
I completed work in commercial property, environmental, health and safety and transport law, following John Dyne round the length and breadth of the country attending court hearings in the magistrates’ courts and Traffic Commissioner Public Inquiries.
Since qualification, the core work we do has remained the same – transport and environmental – but the firm’s property work has now been replaced by commercial dispute work.
The work I have done has always been in road transport and continues to be so today, heading up the road transport department.
This has led me to representing operators in road transport Public Inquiries in all parts of the United Kingdom: as far north as Inverness, south to Cornwall, west to Belfast and east to Cambridge.
Although the staff have changed at DSL over my last 17 years, the key ethos remains the same: specialist knowledge and quality advice delivered in a friendly manner by people that genuinely care about their clients.
I am confident that the firm will continue to deliver the same service and quality over the next 20 years (and beyond), building on its growth and progression over the last 20 years.
I am proud and honoured to be a Director at DSL and I am very much looking forward to leading the charge with the continued development of the Road Transport function.
