The Senior Traffic Commissioner, Richard Turfitt, has drafted updates to the Guidance on Driver Conduct Hearings (Statutory Document No. 6) and the proposed changes are out for consultation.
The changes made involve areas including the starting points for action against drivers, cases involving armed personnel, abusive behaviour and driver disqualification.
The Statutory Documents are designed to give consistency and transparency to the decisions made by the Traffic Commissioner and their deputies.
The consultation closes on 23 July 2019 and Richard Turfitt said “Our aim is to provide clear guidance and continue to improve transparency in the way we come to our decisions. Without a framework, we would not be in a position to ensure consistent and fair regulation of the transport industry or to continue to modernise the licensing regime.”
