The amount of overnight subsistence agreed by the RHA with HMRC, and effective since 1 April 2013, is £34.90, or £26.20 if the driver uses a sleeper cab.
Operators are allowed to pay their drivers more than this if they wish but should be aware that this is the maximum tax-free allowance.
The next round of increase negotiations will begin in November 2013 once the RPI figures are published.
