Role - Managing Director (Environmental, Health & Safety & Transport)
I specialise in Environmental, Road Transport and Health & Safety Law. I remain enthusiastic about law and practice and have a deep respect and admiration for my clients who operate within extremely demanding and highly regulated industry sectors. They do a wonderful job but occasionally things go wrong and when they do I am always keen to offer advice and support.
My environmental work involves representing waste recyclers, landfill operators, groundwork’s and soil remediation specialists and the livestock and agricultural sectors on issues ranging from breaches of Transfrontier Shipment of Waste Regulations to breach of planning controls. All such breaches can result in legal proceedings and my raison d’être is to defend my clients to the best of my ability. I frequently act in cases involving alleged breaches of environmental permits, fire risk management, incorrect waste coding and cases involving noise and odour pollution.
The health and safety cases I have defended involve a number of serious workplace injury and work-related death cases. In addition to practising as a Solicitor, I am Secretary to the Batched on Site Association (BSA) and the Heavy Transport Association (HTA) and I have set up the Transport Managers Association which I hope will be a centre of enlightenment and support for Transport Managers throughout the UK. I am a member of the Institute of Transport Administration (IoTA) and the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM). I have well over 30 years’ practice experience of working within the legal sector and advising clients in these specialist niche areas.
