Seminar Focuses on Corporate Manslaughter Act Regulatory law specialists Dyne Solicitors Limited are inviting senior business managers and directors to a free seminar exploring the new Corporate Manslaughter Act. The seminar, which will take place on 13 March at the practice’s offices in Tattenhall Chester, will look at issues around the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, which comes into force on 6 April. John Dyne, of Dyne Solicitors Limited, said: “Prosecutions for corporate manslaughter are possible under current law but are very rare because of the need to show that a single individual at the very top of a company is personally guilty before the company can be prosecuted. “The new Act creates a criminal offence that will apply when someone has been killed because bosses 'grossly failed' to take reasonable care for the safety of their employees or others.” The seminar will look at issues including:
John Dyne added: “Companies and other organisations need to be aware of how they could be affected by the new Act and to put in place proper arrangements for managing health and safety, to ensure that they are compliant with the law.” The two-hour seminar takes place at 10am on Thursday, 13 March and will be repeated at 4pm on Thursday, 1 April.
