National Minimum Wage - October rises National Minimum Wage (NMW) hourly rates will increase again from 1 October 2008 - Oct 2009. The new rates will be as follows:
Where an employer provides a worker with accommodation, the cost of that accommodation can count, in part, towards the employer's liability to pay the NMW, but there is an upper limit on the amount that may be offset. This increased from £4.30 a day to £4.56 a day on 1 October 2007. Agricultural workers are covered by the NMW, but may also be entitled to higher minimum rates of pay set by the Agricultural Wages Board.
